Mind-Boggling IOPC Highroller Double
Last month, the 10th edition of the India Online Poker Championship was hosted on Spartan Poker. In our previous blogs about the IOPC Jan 2021, we’ve called it a record breaking and historic poker series. One of the biggest reasons why it is such a memorable event is because the Highroller and Super Highroller poker events were won by the same person! We cannot think of if it has ever happened in the Indian poker scene where the same person takes down two incredibly high guarantees in one of the biggest poker series in the country!
The IOPC #52 Highroller INR 1 Crore GTD was the first live streamed tournament of the series. The tournament received a total of 186 entries at a hefty buy-in of INR 55,000. Nearly 8 hours of play got us down to the final 6. Sriharsha ‘potatoplayer’ Doddapaneni is a well renowned player in the Indian poker scene and sat in No.1 position at the final table with the chip lead, favourite to win the title.
Two of the shortest stacks on the final table were the first to bust out. Pulkit Goyal got eliminated by Spartan Poker Pro and WSOP bracelet winner Nikita Luther and Anita Hassanandani got knocked out by Shardul Parthasarathi. Pulkit Goyal and Anita Hassanandani both earned themselves payouts of INR 5.35 Lakhs and INR 6.9 Lakhs respectively. Nikita Luther was the next to depart the final table earning a payout of INR 8.6 Lakhs, followed by Sagar ‘strangeplay’ Choudhury who busted in 3rd place for a payout of INR 10.5 Lakhs!
Official Winner of The IOPC #52 Highroller INR 1 Crore GTD
The two players left in the field, at heads-up, were Sriharsha and Shardul. Both of whom are good friends. This made it an easy decision for them to cut a deal and chop the remaining prize pool. Since, Sriharsha still had the chip lead, he became the official winner of the IOPC #52 Highroller INR 1 Crore GTD and won himself a massive payout of INR 21.55 Lakhs. As for Shardul Parthasarathi, he earned the 2nd place payout of INR 17.44 Lakhs! A few days later, it was time for the IOPC Super Highroller INR 1.25 Crore GTD!
A long grind of more than 8 hours got us to the final table. And guess what, Sriharsha ‘potatoplayer’ Doddapaneni made it to another final table! Vaibhav ‘Nikka Zaildar’ Sharma was the chip leader at the beginning of the final table, but wasn’t able to capitalize on it, busting out in 5th place. Before him, Nagendra ‘SorosDruckTudor’ Vadlamani busted out in 6th place for a payout, just shy of INR 9 Lakhs. Vaibhav ‘Nikka Zaildar’ Sharma busted in 5th place for a payout of INR 11.2 Lakhs. Indian poker scene reg, Ashish Munot fell short again and busted out in 4th place taking home around INR 14 Lakhs!
Down to 3 players, Naresh ‘FreeFlow’ Veeravalli busted out in 3rd place after starting out as the shortest stack on the final table. He must’ve been pleased with himself after cashing out for INR 16.9 Lakhs! Considering the big pay jumps in the Super Highroller, the heads-up didn’t last too long. Sriharsha Doddapaneni had the chip lead again and cut a deal with Arsh ‘BigggTymeR’ Grover.
Sriharsha Doddapaneni did the unthinkable and took home the 1st place payout in the Super Highroller as well of INR 33.92 Lakhs
Arsh Grover earned the second place payout of INR 30.57 Lakhs! Congratulations again to the man, the myth and now, certainly a legend, Sriharsha Doddapaneni for this unbelievable achievement! For more interesting reads about the Indian poker industry and poker news, keep reading PokerShots!
